Q. Is it at all possible to adopt a baby or toddler from a Middle Eastern country like Iraq or Afghanistan or another Middle Eastern country? Is there any information or websites out there about this?
I just know that these countries have experienced a lot of distress and war so I was curious to know if there are any babies/toddlers available there for adoption. I'm from America and not Muslim, but I'm looking to adopt a child internationally.

Answer
true in many situations the family takes in the child...

but what the other poster said is very true.... since "adoption" as it is in the USA does not happen in those countries, you can't really adopt..... the culture there is that children have a plot in life, and if they are left without parents, then someone else cannot become their parent...

this is all explained on the USA travel web site (the gov site mentioned above)

adoption is part of our culture, but no all the countries of the world...

What's the better bargain: local travel agent or online?

We're thinking of taking either a cruise or all-inclusive vacation w/ 4 adults & 1 toddler - 2 or 3 yrs ols depending what month we go. Are there major benefits to using a local travel agent, or is it possible to find as good or better deals from online sites these days? This would be our first cruise, so input on kid-friendly lines would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
and If you know just what you want, and how to get to it, the website will typically be direct and straightforward, and possibly cheaper, but not necessarily.

If you're not quite sure what you want, then the travel agent can listen to your thoughts and put together a set of packages for you that you wouldn't necessarily have figured out on your own. Among other things, the travel agent will be able to give you that inside advice on kid friendly lines.

Just a note: if you decide to consult a travel agent, then you shouldn't take the package he suggests and book it online. that's kind of a dirty trick. (I'm sure someone will suggest it, though)

I've had a few people tell me if you take a cruise, book it as soon as you know when and where you want to go... One friend had his accomodations upgraded 5 times between booking the cruise, and signing into the ship. (If there are no rooms available at level x, one of the people already booked in level x gets upgraded to make room for a new person booking for level x)
