I need Input on traveling by Air India with 2 year old daughter.?

Hi, I am traveling through Air India with my 2 year old daughter from Chicago to Mumbai. This is my first time traveling with her and I am little nervous as I heard some bad things about Air India. I want to know if you have traveled Air India with a toddler and what was your experience like? For example was flight crew helpful? Do they provide warmed milk for toddlers? I know their entertainment system is poor, so can I take portable DVD player for my daughter to watch her favorite shows? I search through their website but I could not find any answer. I also tried to call them on their four different numbers but all of them are always engaged. My journey is very close, so please reply

you should be fine with the portable dvd player. we travel from japan to the states several times a year and we always bring it for him and it works well for us. other tips- bring her favorite toys and some surprises. i always hit the dollar store (or the 100 yen shop!)ãbefore a flight. we also bring medicine just in case. ibuprofin or tylenol can help with ear pain if she is no longer nursing (nursing helps ears during take off and landing). and you may also want to consider benedryl which can be given to help her sleep. (check with your doctor for the dose). as for the flight staff. they may be too busy to give you special attention but that doesnt mean you wont have help. when i travel alone with the kids people always offer to help- the grandmother type who let my son sleep with his feet on her lap-- the helpful dad on a business trip who will help you carry your stuff when you board. ask people for help--- they want to help but may be shy to offer. also bring lots of snacks and dont be shy about asking for whatever you need during the trip so you daughter wont get dehydrated. also bring plenty of extra clothes for her and an extra shirt for you... i remember the time my son vomited right before landing. what a mess! good luck and have a safe trip!!!

Can my toddler have Pneumonia?

My son got a fever of 103F last Saturday, he's now a lot better with a temperature of 99F or so..
He's eating, drinking and watching DVD's laughing and singing, but he is having some difficulty breathing. I think that this is due to his stuffy nose and his chesty coughs... It's hard cause he doesn't know how to blow his nose ..plus he hates the bulb syringe.)
Are there any concerns of pneumonia without a high fever?
There is no vomiting, just coughing pretty badly and breathing harder....

my son is 14 months and is just getting off antibiotics for pneumonia. his is a contagious pneumonia that his pediatrician saw three cases of just in the day we took him in. my son had no fever. he had a very snotty nose in the days prior to our visit and his cough held on ten days (it was not incredibly frequent but yucky sounding) I finally took him in and got a chest x-ray and bingo - pneumonia! I waited so long because we had recently traveled by plane to a dry desert climate from the midwest and that is when his illness began so I assumed it was a cold (from the dirty plane) and the cough that was hanging on was from the arid climate. when it did not get better overnight at home in our usual climate - I called the doc - soooooo glad I did!

EDIT: mine was happy and dancing around and laughing too!

Traveling with toddlers and a newborn!?

So Tuesday we're leaving for an 11 hour trip.My girls are 3,15 months,and today my youngest is 11 days.We're going to family's house for Thanksgiving,but I am staying there with the girls all the way until Christmas.What do I need to bring for the trip?I know like clothes and food and everything.We are leaving at 8pm Tuesday,so the whole time that we are driving the girls will be asleep(except the baby).

what helps on a long car ride for the lil' ones? in my experience it goes in this order: 1) Snack Food (finger food that isn't gooey like crackers or apple slices, cereal such as cheerios - just in case they don't go to sleep like you want them to, or if they wake up too early) 2) Drinks/Bottles (with tops that don't leak; they will be thirsty from eating the snacks) 3) Toys (preferable not loud annoying ones that you can't stand... coloring books are a bad idea because they WILL drop their crayons and will not be able to reach them, and then start to cry) 4) Even if your 3 year old is potty trained put at least a night time diaper on him/her just in case they have an accident and you couldn't pull over in time/ or if they go in their sleep) 5) LOTS of wed wipes - not just for diaper changing, but for cleaning faces, hands, car seats, spills and any other messes that might happen. also, they are great for YOU too while you are driving and eating food that might leave your fingers sticky or messy. 6) a kids sing-along song CD for them (or a lullaby CD for the nighttime in case they have trouble sleeping) 7) blankets and pillows (pack extra just in case they pee, poop, vomit or get food/drink on them) 8) keep changes of clothes handy in the car so that you don't have to open the trunk and your suitcases everytime they spill something/vomit/leak pee or poop on themselves

at night it's best just to put them in the car in their pj's so that they are most comfortable while strapped in to their car seats. the kind with the footies are the best just in case they kick off their blankets you don't need to stop to tuck them in again so that they don't get cold and wake up. also, if you're planning on roughing it and driving straight through the night then pack some stimulant drinks - such as coffee or red bull (however, just a warning, cafeene will make you pee more often) i have driven across country several times (20 hour trips straight through) with my kids from age 6 months to 9 years, and this is what worked for me!

My toddler has C Diff?

My 3 1/2 year old, which has spastic diplegia, has tested positive for C Diff today. I have done a little bit of research on c diff. I am not really for sure how one can contract this from another, other than touching a sufferer's poop. I know that when I worked in a nursing home, any resident that contracted this infection, was put on isolation, and anytime you go into their room, you gown up. My other son's first birthday party is on Saturday, and we were going to have his party at our house. Should we cancel having guests come over, or should we just take precautions? And also, what are some good ways and good cleaners to do to help keep our house disinfected. How long does C diff normally last? Are there any long term affects from c diff? Also, he still has his appetite, and he is not vomiting anymore, he is just having loose stools every 4-6 hours. Thank You, I am just a little confused on how you can catch this from someone. In my son's case, he caught it from antibiotics.

Travelling out of the country with a toddler?

My sister in law has travelled to Venzuela for the holidays with her 1 year old daughter. She's been there for a week and the whole week the baby has been vomiting and having very watery diarhea. She is barely eating and she sais she's been weak. The first couple of days there, the baby had her formula made with boiled tapped water. Then was switched to bottled water. She has not improved and they will be taking her to see a doctor today. Has anyone experienced this with their child? Any ideas what can be causing this?

It more than likely is something that came from the water. I haven't personally had this happen but I've seen it in patients at our office. The best thing to do is take her to a doctor to be assessed to determine if it is e coli or some form of bacteria. Until she is seen make sure that she is getting plenty of electrolytes to prevent dehydration. Or, it could just be a flu/virus and it is a coincidence that she got it right after the trip. Either way though, she will be in my prayers and tell your sister in law I hope she feels better!

In my 4.5 years of parenting, I have never had a floater in the bathub until NOW!

My 19 month old pooped in the tub....haha

LOL, when my oldest was about that age she was bathing with her dad and pooped in the tub. The way he was yelling you would have thought it was acid nearing his leg. He was standing holding her in the air and yelling his head off. I ran in and just stood there laughing for a couple minutes at his fear of a little poop before I took her from him.

As for my own kids I never thought I would see my toddler eat a bug (yuck) and I would have never believed that vomit can literally travel a couple feet before hitting something.
