Travel Out of town with small children / infants?

TReilly73

If you are going to be traveling out of town to visit family or friends? Would it be easier to pay a small fee to rent certain pieces of equipment for infants / toddlers or just bring your stuff along on the plane, train or auto? With the rising costs of per bag charges on airlines.. which would you prefer?

Answer
It is difficult to bring your own stuff. Unless there is a particular item that you can't do without, such as a carseat, plan on renting or improvising when you get to where you are going. cribs can be rented for a small fee or even borrowed. you can use phone books as a booster seat and an infant can use the carseat as an infant seat or for feeding.

where is a good vacation spot to take with 3 toddlers?

i have 3 toddlers(ages 3, 2, and 1.) what would be a good place to vacation?

Answer
Disney and other theme parks are a little much with toddlers, especially 3 of them.

With 3 kids with various feeding and naptime demands, I would recommend a resort if you can afford it. It doesn't have to be all that ritzy, but I find it helpful to be able to walk to onsite pools, playgrounds, and restaurants rather than hauling kids and equipment in the car. Anything at all can come up with kids, so it's nice to have a home base close by. Some of them have kitchens, which makes mealtimes easier (and less expensive).

Also, since it's summer, you don't have to go to Florida or California. If you have a local place, that's saves travel time and travel expenses.

At those ages (3 and under), they are happy with some sun, room to run and make noise, and to be able to cool off. Spending hundreds of dollars at Disney for an experience they'll barely remember is a waste of resources. Save that for when they are older and can wait in line and truly enjoy the rides.

A beach cottage or wooded cabin is good, too. Honestly, are most kids more likely to play with leaves and puddles and dirt than appreciate expensive scenery and doodads anyway?
